Peter van Ryneveld’s career has been in merchant banking, stockbroking and management training. He joined UAL Merchant Bank in 1985 as an investment analyst and by the time he left in 1988 he was Head of Research, responsible for monitoring the performance of shares in all sectors of the economy, producing the quarterly economic overview for the investment division of the bank and managing a department of ten people. He then worked overseas for a year at James Capel, Paris, advising international investors on South African investment opportunities in particular.

PeterOn returning to South Africa, he joined MAST (Management and Skills Training), a listed company specialising in management training across a broad spectrum of skills. His primary responsibility was the design and presentation of training courses on all aspects of financial management.

In 1990, he left MAST to set up his own company. Since then, he has consulted to a substantial number of organisations on the development of financial and investment skills at a supervisory, middle and senior management level.

During the past twenty-five years he has created and presented a wide variety of customised training courses on finance and finance-related topics. He has appeared as a guest presenter on the TV programme “Your Own Business” and has co-authored a book – “The Essentials of Retirement Fund Management in South Africa 1993/4”.

Peter has Masters degrees in Economics and Law. He speaks English, Afrikaans and French. He is the founder and a Director of Johannesburg School of Finance.
